Richie vs. The River

I was pinned under a waterfall one time, stuck on the floor of the river for ten minutes or more before a shift of the torrential current had the mercy to spit me out. Maybe it wasn’t ten minutes, but with terrifying excitement and oxygen-empty lungs I told myself while it was happening that ten minutes was a conservative guess. I remembered the guide talking river danger before we cast off in our rubber boat, and specifically about how easily a person could be sucked in by the strength of the currents, pinned to a rock, or wedged under a fallen tree, and easily drowned. He told us horror stories of dead adventurers that only made the upcoming trip down the wild river more exciting, and made all of us want to fall into the frothing water and survive. This week I’ve been listening to Loscil. Cool ambient electronic IDM stuff. Hypnotic spacey and locks in the pocket all at the same time. Headphones are good for this instrumental stuff. Enjoy.

the spin-free zone

Apologies for lack of posting and for appearing to ignore all of your emails. On Monday afternoon, the hard drive in my MacBook stopped spinning. The machine is currently at the Apple store in Freehold. I’ll supposedly be back in commision by the end of the week. We’ll see.
