The hook up.

Barney Kessel, Ray Brown and Shelly Mann aka The Poll Winners (because they all won “best of” their particular instruments in the same year in Downbeat, Metronome and Playboy). I’ve heard some of the tracks before and finally bought a few of the albums. Check out Green Dolphin St.

Flood of photos on Flickr

Spent lunch hour today getting some snaps from the past month up on flickr. View the latest sets here. As usual, if you don’t see a whole slew of pictures in each set (around 10 or so), you’re probably not logged in to flickr or you’re not on my Friends/Family list. Pls email me if you’re having problems seeing them.

Gruesome Day at Work

There were two images jockeying for position in my head last night after a gruesome day at work.

ultra-portable recording devices

So Beedge (and Hol and b) were up visiting this past weekend. It goes without saying that we played a bit more than we usually would because of my new handy dandy Vox amp. It’s small and portable enough that the barrier to getting things setup to play is almost nil. Meaning inertia doesn’t get the better of us and we play more. I wish we had recorded the sessions though and it’s with that in mind that I tap the collective wisdom of the WBB:

I need an ultra portable recording device. Requirements are as follows:

  • No larger than a 3G ipod (deck of cards)
  • 4-8 hour battery life
  • lossless recording with optional encoding/compression OTF for disk space savings
  • built in stereo microphone
  • firewire transfer
  • usb port (or some other input) for using external microphone(s)/mixer

Does such a thing exist?
