Net Neutrality Suffers a Blow

The House Committee on Energy & Commerce has sided with the telcos and rejected legislation that would prevent a multi-tiered internet. There’s still some hope that the Senate will be swayed by intelligent discourse instead of the well-heeled telco lobbyists. BusinessWeek has a good overview of the recent House activity. Danny Weitzner’s blog (which I just discovered this AM and am certainly adding to my aggregator) has some fantastic back stories on the net neutrality proceedings.

Congress is waaaay too busy trying to buy back favor with the American public with the $100 “gas rebate” stunt to listen to anything “intelligent” (unless “design” follows it). Oh, that and outlawing streaming MP3s.
