offset your car’s emissions

I don’t want to reopen the SUV argument. However, if you want to assuage your guilt a bit then have a look at TerraPass. If anyone plans on doing this or has already done it, drop a comment below.

Woodfish playing tonight in Red Bank

Anyone in Monmouth county who is looking for something to do tonight should go to the Downtown Cafe in Red Bank tonight to see Steve Cumberland’s band Woodfish >> http://www.woodfishmusic.com/bio/. I went to see them play last night @ Don Hills in the West Village and they absolutely tore it up. Cumby Jr shreds on the ax and their bassist is up there with Flea and Les Claypool…seriously!!!
Anyhow, if intereted, they are going on at 10pm playing 2 sets. Oh..and there is no cover charge either!

Net Neutrality Suffers a Blow

The House Committee on Energy & Commerce has sided with the telcos and rejected legislation that would prevent a multi-tiered internet. There’s still some hope that the Senate will be swayed by intelligent discourse instead of the well-heeled telco lobbyists. BusinessWeek has a good overview of the recent House activity. Danny Weitzner’s blog (which I just discovered this AM and am certainly adding to my aggregator) has some fantastic back stories on the net neutrality proceedings.

hello WB

i’m off to san fran to chillax for a long weekend, take in a little culture and just enjoy a much needed vacation. but before I go, just wanted to point you to my latest late night fixation, www.youtube.com

this site has received a lot of highprofile press lately and i just wanna make sure you all know about it. i found some excellent, rare, audiece vids of the boss playing growin’ up in a little club with just an acoustic, sufjan stevens and hit illinoisemakers playing the night zombies song (so cool. unpolished, but really engaging), some old Bjork stuff from Glastonbury, as well as an hour+ video of The Police playing japan back in the day.

searh for anything you can think of. I’m sure you’ll find something. there are lots of tags to follow and even preprogrammed ‘channels’ to watch passively (these channels are fed by the same tags I’m guessing)

there’s a lot of crap on there, but you can bookmark stuff you like, rate it (good idea to sort by rating and look at the runtime before you chose to play something), make playlists, full screen it if you want. good times

stay tuned as I’ll be posting my top- 5 desert island picks soon. its been a tough decision, obviously.
