Chris, I met Lt. Mike Encke for the second time just last week. We were standing outside a one-hundred and fifty year old synagogue whose roof had just collapsed and he came up to me and said, “You know Hempstead.” I said, “Hey! That’s right, you’re wife and Liz are good friends, right?” And then we proceeded to talk about your love of Budweiser and fishing and all things chilli. He was amazed by the work you did on your house, and I reluctantly admitted I had never been there. A great guy who I can tell (without even seeing him in action) is a tremendous fireman.

Nice pictures of the kids in their cool sweatshirts…

By the way, my Atlantic Ocean sweatshirt gets the most circulation out of any shirt I own. I answer the question a lot, “Atlantic Ocean??” Yeah, I say. All these Nantucket and Nag’s Head and Myrtle Beach and Long Beach Island shirts people wear, they’re all the same place. The Atlantic Ocean. I have a sausage-fingered buddy whose a genius… but, miraculously, he’s not a millionaire.

    Doesn’t make sense to me…
