I'm trying to figure out where I stand on this issue as both a proud Democrat and a supporter of the government keeping its laws off my body :)

So, the guy at the Bucs game is probably a jerk...I'm sure we've all met him somewhere along the line. He's either looking for cash anywhere he can find it or is some wacko libertarian (send all letters to Jim Willis) who thinks his rights are violated 20-times a day. He's going to drop hot coffee on himself next week and sue McDonalds, or eat three double cheeseburgers (mmm, double cheeseburgers) have a heart attack and, well, sue McDonalds.

The real question is the existence of the ACLU. It's a pretty slippery slope if we don't allow these more frivilous lawsuits to exist, at least to a point. The ACLU keeps the fringe alive so the rest of us can exist in the middle ground of real instances where legal action is warranted. The only group more hated than the trial lawyers is the insurance companies...I'd rather be pissed about frivilous lawsuits than lose my ability to hold some business accountable for legitimate negligence.
