Post to WB from Flickr

The Package (or) A Message to My Wife

The package has arrived… I must believe… I must pray that it’s not too late. My beautiful wife, the lucky charm that I dream her to be, has already broken my heart once by laying her allegiance to the wrong baseball team… those damn Yankees. No, Dila!!! The Orioles are the best, intrinsically, even if lately all they do is nose dive through seasons! Well, Dila, born in Brasil, you grew up with soccer while I fell in love with baseball and football. And now that you’re learning slowly these two new sports, I’ve lost you already to one… the big money, bought team, ridiculous sport of baseball. (Baseball, baseball, how I hate you, and try unsuccessfully every year to ban you from my life.) But Dila, baby, you’ve got two awesome surprises waiting for you when you walk in from work. Two awesome gifts. On hot days, or lounging nights, you’ve got the sleeveless half-shirt in light purple and white, cute as can be, the Ravens head somehow adorable on a shirt I close my eyes and see you wearing. And, oh, it’s going to make me so happy when the weather cools down and that long-sleeve T-shirt with the purple stripes around the arms and that blaring eye staring out from the Raven emblazoned on the chest walks into the room on the body of my baby. I need you Dila… I need you for this. The Ravens need you! With such a horrifically unpredictable slow start to this season, I believe that all it will take is two gifts, two shirts worn by the right girl, my girl, to leave the nightmare of those first couple games far far far far far behind. The package has arrived… and I pray that it is not too late.

iPod Battery Replacement

OK, so it doesn’t have the geek-cred of CF hacking the CVS digital camera, but I did change my own iPod battery last night. I got the replacement from ipodjuice. Splitting the seam on the iPod was way harder than the instructions made it sound like it would be, though the handy-dandy tool that accompanied the battery did make it a little easier. If anyone needs the tool to split their iPod for hacking/battery replacement, let me know. I’m happy to share.
