getting softer?

Last night NGC broadcast a special on the 9-11 attacks on our country. The documentary style account was played out on a minute by minute series of events culminating with the downing of the last plane in a field in Pa.. It was probably the best compilation of the days events that I have seen.
There was a reference at the end of a comment made by an FBI agent regarding the attack on the WTC back in 1993. The agent had said that “not enough blood was spilled”. The comment was intended for its recipient to express the agents belief that Bin Laden would not be satisfied with the results of the attack because it did not “get our attention”. After the attacks almost four years ago, a similar statement was made by an agent, and it troubled my wife Liz . She said, “ do you think that is true?”
I replied, “ yes I do”.
She asked why I thought that and I told her that in the immediate aftermath of 9-11 almost everyone put their full faith and support behind our military to seek out and destroy terrorists AND those who harbor them. Now here we are four years later and we have an increasing movement to pull out of Iraq before the finishing the job we set out to do, a group of people who oppose random security checks on subways and calls for the release of Taliban prisoners(I’m sure one of you will be able to cite many more examples of a softening “angry America”). I think that many Americans feel that everything is ok and we should move on. I for one disagree. I feel that the war isn’t even begun. It is clear that Bin Laden has not relented in his goal. It is critical now more than ever that we step up the fight. I only hope that when this asshole gets ALL of our attention I am still alive to see it because then and only then will the USA unite together as one and rid this earth of scumbag muslim extremists. Hopefully we can get the job done before some people go numb once again.

it’s good to vent dude, keeps the cancer away… Whatever the case, Iraq is fuc&@d. Bad move for the leader of the free world. Gettin worse by the minute. At least we should be seeing some oil dripping out of there soon and lower prices at the pump, but seeing the cowboy who is running this mess, probably not…
    Rock!

Um, so how come our government is not looking for Bin Laden instead of filling body bags and veterans hospitals from Iraq? Osama’s never even been there!

good points. soft….more security is a must. more pressure on the arab world is a must, including iraq. keep imprisoning those who show resistance. remind americans that the war is only just begun and we are going to step up the effort until the arab world pukes out the extremist muslims who wreak havoc on the free world. once there, i think we will all agree on something.

kent, can you please tell us where you learned that “…our government is not looking for bin laden….”?

not sure what the point of bin laden not having been to iraq is. he has probably never been to middletown, nj either but has had a tremendous impact and influence on that community. maybe he has had some sort of impact and influence over the former dictator of iraq as well. who knows?

Interview on Fresh Air with Mamoun Fandy:

I heard this on 9/27/01. It was both comforting and scary. Comforting to hear a rational analysis of the Wahabi mindset, but also frightening to hear that any future attacks will most likely be more “spectacular”, as they say. I would recommend his book, Saudi Arabia and The Politics of Dissent. Here’s a link:
