Soon to drop

I’ve had the opportunity to have a brief listen to two new albums which will be released in the next few weeks.

The first is Laura Cantrell’s “Humming by the Flowered Vine“. Laura hosts the Radio Thrift Shop on WFMU every Saturday, and she has been a fixture on the NYC alt-country scene for years. Laura is nice enough to announce The M Shanghai String Band’s monthly gig on her show, and she even played one of the tracks from our album, which was a big thrill for us.

The other disk is the second outing by Mike Gordon and Leo Kottke, yet to be titled. Like Clone, their first, it features upbeat Caribbean-flavored instrumentals and their unique, croaky vocals. They even pull off a cover of Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion”. Good stuff!

Posted in general, music.
