Holy crap. I leave the site unattended for a couple of weeks and it turns into a virtual locker room. This is a *family site* you know ;-)
Anyway, Florida was good — but as usual, it seems almost not worth it to go on vacation when you consider how much crap gets piled up on your plate while you’re away. I’m getting a lot of heat from various parties about the lack of new pictures, so i’m posting a new batch of photos up in the gallery.

Can I blame her, the way people park in New York? Maybe not, but I still want to shit in her mailbox. The way people park in New York should be reason enough to make bumpers out of tire rubber instead of making them dentable, nicely painted continuations of the car’s body (they ARE called bumpers for shit’s sake). I’ll assume that one of the cars I was wedging my own car in between belonged to her, but seeing her standing there on the sidewalk burning holes with her “I dare you” stare as I wedged in front of her house made me want to gun the gas and trade paint with both the cars in my way. Relax, lady! I’m in like Flynn! She carries herself like I’m part of an invasion, like she’s disgusting herself with the thought, “How dare he live in MY neighborhood!?” I see this unfriendly lady all the time, strutting around with her fat ankles and her big shaggy dog, gracing the neighborhood with approval here, reproachful stares there. Lady, what do you want? Times change. Old neighbors die and move out, new neighbors move in. I said hello to her once, and she responded with contempt. No neighborly return of hello, just straight into a snide speech about the trash cans in front of my building. Hey lady, an ounce of sugar goes a long way. Save the bitch in you for someone who deserves it. All I did was said hello. So go fuck yourself. I ain’t the super. You don’t like the trash cans arranged like that, tell it to someone who gives a shit. Sometimes people make me sick, with their damn unfounded unfriendliness. I parked my car perfectly and watched her watching me. What do you got to say now, lady? Shove it up your ass unless it’s Hello, or Good morning, or Nice day, huh? I took my bag with my several sweaty shirts from a long twenty-four hour tour at work and walked my tired body toward the place where I live. I earn my place in this neighborhood, lady. And I don’t need your steely stares telling me otherwise. And you know what else? You still owe me that Hello.

These are pictures from the Valentine’s Dance that I went to with Jenna.

I just had to include this one of Jimmy Zazzali. Jenna thinks he looks like a “skinny Sasquatch”…

As with many people and things that I initially disdained then came to love (our own Diamond Jim being one example), Nicorette has now taken a place of primacy in my life - and in my jacket, my man-purse, my drawer at work, etc.. There is NO WAY that I could attemp to quit smoking without it, and it’s working for my girlfriend, too.
Yup, you read that right. As of the beginning of April I have been attached to a beautiful woman and a great person named Jenna Holthusen. She and I go way back: we were friends in high school, went to a dance together (I always had a crush on her, but - fortunately - I never got a chance to f*#% it up), and we still have mutal friends here in NYC. That’s how she got back in touch with me, and we were together almost instantly. So, I got that goin’ for me…
I’ll have a few albums coming out this year that I worked on as an engineer and musician. One is a live recording I made of some bluegrass-y type stuff from some people in Brooklyn, and another is Kristin Mueller’s solo album. That one has been turned over to the mix engineer, and the first is being mastered, so it’s been nice this week to let it all go and think about taking a break for the summer.
Work at Sterling Sound remains pretty fun and interesting. I am working more normal (9-6) hours, so if anyone wants to hang out I’m available. I’m still as sober as a Methodist minister, though, so just don’t ask me out for beers.
Although I haven’t posted anything in a while I’ve been checking in regularly to get the scoops. Nav, you ol’ horndog, I hope you get a chance to throw the stones around real soon! If you or any other NYC inhabitants want to come check out the monthly hoedown I’m jamming in, it’s at M Shanghai on Havermeyer St. in Williamsburg the first Saturday of every month - 8 PM. See you soon!

Well, since I posted before about a Radiohead cover, I couldn’t not pass along this mp3 of a percussion ensemble covering Radiohead’s "Paranoid Android". I’m not sure whether to love or hate it. The keyboard arrangement is fairly decent, but the drumming is sub-par.
